English, Turkish

It’s no secret that traditional Turkish cuisine is full of rich flavors and diverse dishes, but what many people don’t know is that with a little creativity, many of these dishes can be made vegan without losing any of their authentic taste! If you’re looking for things to do in Istanbul that go beyond sightseeing, we’d love to invite you into our home for a vegan Turkish cooking experience.

As a longtime home cook, I’ve spent years experimenting with plant-based versions of classic Turkish dishes, from Vegan Kokoreç (a twist on Istanbul’s famous street food) to Vegan Mantı (Turkish dumplings). In this experience, I’ll share my favorite vegan adaptations while also introducing you to the unique spices and ingredients of Turkish cuisine. 🥟

When you arrive, we’ll start with tea and conversation, just as friends and family do in Turkey. Then, we’ll cook together in a relaxed, homey atmosphere, preparing dishes like Kısır (bulgur salad), Vegan Dolma (stuffed grape leaves), and Vegan Dürüm (Turkish wraps filled with fresh veggies and spices). Once everything is ready, we’ll sit down for a family-style meal, enjoying the food we’ve made and sharing stories over tea. 🫖

This isn’t just a cooking class—it’s a warm and personal experience that gives you a true taste of Turkish home life. By the time you leave, you’ll not only know how to make amazing vegan Turkish dishes, but you’ll also take home memories, friendships, and a deeper connection to Istanbul’s food culture. 🍽️

If you're looking for a unique experience in Istanbul, this is your chance to eat, cook, and connect like a local.Come as a guest, leave as a friend! 🧡

Very nice! It was a really interesting experience and I recommend this to anyone who wants to see how people cook and spend time together in Turkey. Also, it's amazing how rich the food can still be when you cook vegan in Turkey. And of course the delicious recipes from Maral and her Mother are priceless, but you have to be there for that! Definitely recommendable!

Those who think that Turkish cuisine consists only of kebab are very wrong. As anyone who comes to this experience can see, many vegan options cooked at home are also possible. It is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who wants to have fun and learn new things by cooking as if they were at home.

Burak and friends and family hosted us for a delightful evening of food prep, dining, Kurdish dancing and conversation. Our hosts could not have been kinder or more generous. We left with both our hearts and stomachs full. Wonderful food and truly lovely people.

We really enjoyed our vegan Turkish cooking experience with Rojda! She was super accommodating and made us feel very welcome in her home. Chatting while making (and eating) the food was the perfect way to learn more about the culture and history of Türkiye too. By the end of the class we left inspired and full of delicious food!
