Patates Kazmaklı Pilav (Potato-Layered Rice)

Rice cooked with a potato layer at the bottom; simple and filling.

1 large potato
• 3 tablespoons butter or cooking oil
• 3 cups water
• Salt

Steps for

Patates Kazmaklı Pilav (Potato-Layered Rice)

1. Prepare the rice; Wash the rice thoroughly; rinsing several times until the water is clear.; Soak in lukewarm water for 20–30 minutes; then boil for about 10–12 minutes and drain.
2. Prepare the potatoes; Peel the potato and slice it thinly.; Place the potato slices at the bottom of a pot.
3. Cover them with the boiled rice.
4. Drizzle some cooking oil on top and place a few slices of butter over it.
5. Let it simmer on low heat for about 30–40 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the rice to steam perfectly.
