Hi, I’m so happy to welcome you into my home for a cooking experience centered around one of my favorite comfort dishes; Soğan Kebap.

When you arrive, I’ll greet you with a drink; wine, beer, or something non-alcoholic if you prefer. We’ll take a moment to settle in, and I’ll tell you about this special recipe; where it comes from, how it’s made in different regions, and why it has such a meaningful place in Turkish home cooking. It’s not something you often see in restaurants. It’s the kind of dish we prepare for family.

I’ll guide you step by step as we shape the onions, layer them with seasoned meat, and assemble the kebap carefully before placing it in the oven. I’ll show you the little details that make the difference; the balance of flavors, the patience, the way the onions soften and caramelize as they bake.

While the kebap cooks, we’ll stay in the kitchen together. I’ll prepare a cracked wheat soup and explain how it’s traditionally made and when we usually serve it at home. There’s always space for conversation; about food, culture, family traditions, and your own stories too.

At the end, we’ll sit down together and enjoy the meal we created; slowly, generously, and without rushing. For me, this is the most important part; sharing the table.

What makes it unique?

This experience centers on the simple joy of preparing and sharing a meal in a real Turkish home. Guests cook a traditional dish together and then enjoy it around the table while talking with the host. The warmth of the home setting and the focus on everyday cooking traditions make it feel natural and genuine.

Kubra is fabulous chef and host, she invited us as a group of UN colleagues for a dinner and everything was amazing, my favourite was her bulgur pilaff and she was very kind to show me her onion chopping skills and tricks :)

I’ve cooked and shared meals at Kübra’s home before, and it’s always such a warm, genuine experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and cooking together never feels rushed or staged. Simple dishes like zeytinyağlı dolma turn into long conversations, laughter, and that comforting feeling of home food done right.

Kübra has a very natural way of bringing people together around the table. It feels less like an activity and more like spending a meaningful evening with friends.
