Join a cozy home baklava cooking class in Istanbul, and learn to make traditional Turkish baklava from scratch with a local chef. Your host, Rojda, welcomes you first with Turkish tea and a heartfelt introduction to baklava’s cultural roots. Then, you’ll get hands-on: preparing ingredients, kneading dough, and rolling out at least 40 delicate layers.

From the clarified butter to the golden syrup, every step is covered; just like it’s been done for generations. After the baking, you’ll sit down with Rojda to enjoy your creations over more tea or Turkish coffee and warm conversation.

Rojda shares, “My grandmother taught me that food is love; and baklava, especially, is meant to be shared.” This isn’t a demo. It’s a shared ritual rooted in Turkish tradition and real connection.

I had an amazing time learning to bake baklava with Rojda! I’ve made baklava a few times before but this time I learned how to make the dough from scratch and with some authentic aspects. Her home was so cozy and I got to meet and chat with her family and friend. She even offered me to join them for dinner while the baklava was baking, which was an unexpected surprise! The food and hospitality was amazing. I recommend this class to anyone visiting Istanbul.
