Hi, I’m Feyza, and I’d love to welcome you into my Istanbul home for a cozy afternoon of Turkish coffee and dessert making. This isn’t just a cooking class — it’s a shared ritual. 🍽️
We’ll begin with a freshly brewed cup of Turkish coffee, the perfect way to settle in and chat about Turkish culture, daily life, and the deep-rooted traditions surrounding food. Then, we’ll start cooking, preparing two traditional desserts. Sample menu: Revani, a soft and syrupy semolina cake, and İrmik Helvası, a rich, buttery treat often enjoyed on special occasions.
As we mix, stir, and bake, we’ll share stories, laugh, and exchange cultural insights, making this so much more than just a cooking class. Finally, we’ll sit together, sip on Turkish tea, and enjoy the delicious sweets we’ve made, just like a Turkish family would. 💌
This experience is perfect for food lovers, culture seekers, and anyone looking for an authentic and personal connection in Istanbul. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with friends, you’ll leave with new recipes, great memories, and a true taste of Turkish home life. 🧡

Host was very nice. We baked a delicious desert in her house and enjoyed all the delicious food afterwards.

If you want to experience making some local deserts inside a family home, this is a must do. It is intended for a small number of people for this dessert class, but I was fortunate enough to be the only participant on 12 April. The host, Nuran, whose home it is in also teaches a dinner cooking class that I wish I would have known about as well (but unfortunately I head back home tomorrow). The dessert maker and teacher is Feyza (Nuran’s sister in law). The instruction and desserts we made were delicious. We also enjoyed some Turkish coffee while the desserts baked and enjoyed tea while we ate them. Feyza even did an “unofficial” reading of my coffee grinds. I hope what she saw comes true for me. We made two deserts. But most important, the warmth in their home and welcoming me like I was a family member will always be memorable. I feel like I learned a lot and will try the recipes when I get home. I also feel like I gained two Turkish Aunties spending the afternoon with them.

What a special opportunity to be invited into another’s home and share time together. Away from the hotels and tourist areas, a glimpse of how another culture lives. This is a hands on course. After a brief discussion we chose to make flour halva and semolina cookies. By hands on, the mixer was our fingers. Both turned out amazing. When they were finished we had Turkish tea or coffee and enjoyed more conversation. Take this class, it was a fantastic experience.
