Hi, I’m Mehmet and I’d love to welcome you into my home to share something truly special: making künefe the traditional way.

We’ll begin with tea or coffee and some warm conversation. Then I’ll walk you through the ingredients: crispy kadayıf pastry, local unsalted cheese, clarified butter, and homemade syrup. We’ll build it layer by layer, press it into a round tray, and cook it together on a flame-top burner: flipping it just right to get that signature golden crust.
As the künefe cooks, we’ll talk about where it comes from, when it’s eaten, and how every family does it slightly differently. Finally, we’ll pour the hot syrup, watch it sizzle, and share it fresh from the pan, gathered around the table. 🧡

Künefe isn’t an everyday dessert. It’s made when guests come over, when something’s worth celebrating, when someone deserves something sweet. And here, you won’t just taste it; you’ll learn how to make it the way we do at home. Around the table, strangers become guests, and sometimes friends. Recipes, rituals, real people; that’s what this is all about.
