Homemade Baklava Recipe
1. Syrup; Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan.; Once it starts boiling; add the lemon slice and simmer over low heat for 20–25 minutes.
Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely.
2. Dough; Mix the eggs; yogurt; milk; water; salt; and vinegar in a bowl.; Gradually add the flour and knead until you get a soft; non-sticky dough.
Cover and let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
3. Phyllo Sheets; Divide the dough into small balls.; Roll each ball out as thin as possible using starch.
4. Layering; After placing half of the sheets in the tray; evenly spread the 200 g walnuts.
Place the remaining sheets on top in the same way.
5. Cutting & Buttering; Cut the baklava into your desired shape.; Pour the melted clarified butter evenly over the top.
⚠️ The butter should be warm or at room temperature; not hot.
6. Baking; Bake in a preheated 180°C (356°F) oven until the top and bottom are evenly golden.
7. Syruping; Let the hot baklava rest for 5 minutes; then pour the cold syrup over it.
Allow it to rest for a few hours so it can absorb the syrup fully.
